Laying technique

  • Rectangular roofings
  • Rectangular double lap roofing (standard pattern) on the roof

Roof battens, complete form work, nailable building boards, nailable masonry.

 

Fastening

Every slate shall be fastened with at least 2 slate-fixing nails or pins or a cramp hook when laying them on battens, or with a pointed hook. The stones on the verge or the hip shall always be fastened with 3 slate-fixing nails or pins.


Minimum lap
The third following course must lap the first one in accordance with the table.

Valleys
In case of valley roofing the "Rules for Roofing with Slate" [Regeln für Deckungen mit Schiefer], issued by the Central Association of the German Roofers' Craft e.V. [Zentralverband des Deutschen Dachdeckerverbands e.V.] shall be observed.
