Mining

Ultra-modern mining engineering is used at our affiliate CAFERSA in Spain. Here the InterSIN slate is not only mined in the mine below ground, but also in opencast mining.

Extracting

Large off-road trucks take the slate blocks with their weights up to 8 tonnes to the above-ground production.

Sawing

Having arrived in the production hall it is the first additional step in production. The modern sawing installations are controlled by machines. Out of the large blocks they saw manageable small blocks. Depending on which cap stone format is being produced the block is given a different size and form in order to keep the degree of application as high as possible.

Splitting

				In Germany the slate is roofed with a thickness of 4 - 6 mm, for France, for example, it is only 3 mm thick. At the same time the splitter has to take into consideration the different splitting thicknesses for the different markets.
After sawing, the blocks are taken to the individual workplaces of the splitters.		The splitting of the blocks is carried out manually with hammer and froe.

Quality

Although the quality of the stones is continuously checked at every place of the production, a final test of the quality of every cap stone takes place at the end of the production.

Logistics

The central store of the CAFERSA in Spain is the "hub" for the delivery of slate in countries such as Germany, France, Great Britain, Belgium and other important slate markets.
